Firefox help? 5 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Can anybody tell me how to make Firefox STOP being my default browser?  I can't find a setting in Firefox to stop it, and I can't find a setting in IE to make it the default!  Do I have to just re-install it?

Thanks!

Dear Cherie,
The easiest option to revert back to I E. is select Start go to control panel select add/remove program and in the left column choose set access and default.
Choose microsoft ,1st option this should reinstate explorer as your main browser ,but allow firefox but do not select firefox as your main default browser. If this does not help let me know.
TRY IT OUT.

Thanks Jazzy!

Sadly, it did not work...I'm guessing it's an XP thing, because Internet Explorer isn't even on my list of progs when I go to the control panel!

But I did find a checkbox in Internet Options for IE to check if it's the default browser, so hopefully the next time I sign on it'll reset itself for me

I would not have even found that without your tip tho Jazzy, so thanks again, very much

Nice option Jazzy, I'd forgotten about that one ?

As an alternative there is an option in both IE and Firefox that makes them check if they are the default browser.

In IE go to Tools ==> Internet Options ==> Programmes
there should be a tick box at the bottom saying 'Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser'

Simply make sure the tick box is checked.

Also in Firefox got to Tools ==> Options ==> General
The third option is another tick box for Firefox to check if it is the default browser .. if you want IE to be default make sure the Firefox one is unticked ?
