Can you not get privacy protection for co.uk addresses? Mine is .com but I use a privacy protection service (purchased through my host) to prevent anyone being able to access any of my personal information. It only costs me £9 per year, you just can’t take chances with things like this. I have read this topic in shock, things like this just amaze me.We don’t need privacy protection for co.uk because we don’t need to declare our addresses, just our name.

MemberJust so it is all on the same thread.
Never ever ever ever ever give out your home address. You really can’t trust anybody I’m afraid. Even the nicest person can turn into a raving psycho if you upset them and you don’t want your neighbours getting letters telling them what you do with your dirty knicks do you? (Mike is obviously excluded from this warning – he is just a cuddly teddy bear who has offered to open a PO Box that we can use for a fee)
PO Boxes (UK). The Royal Mail (bless their hearts) will tell anyone who has your PO Box address your home address. They are not secure. Ask a friend, a male preferably, who will accept your cheques or postal orders for you and pass them on. Then if psycho turns up on his doorstep he’ll get a nasty surprise won’t he? lmao
Online banking. Look it up, promote how easy it is. The seller never sees any of the buyer’s bank details. The buyer only needs your account number and sort code and he can’t do anything with this info apart from pay money in. This info is printed all over your cheques anyway.
Proving you are real. By supplying your address? Your phone number? Not on your nelly. Get verified by Panty Trust. The suspicious buyer can pop along to http://www.pantytrust.com and see you holding up a sign to prove who you are. One of the main reasons for joining Panty Trust is so you don’t have to deal with all the palavar of proving you are genuine.
Abuse. You do not have to accept it. If anyone sends you an email with any sort of abuse in it you must report them immediately to their service provider and their email provider. It is not acceptable and should not be tolerated. Experienced sellers have a zero tolerance policy and it works
Privacy. If your domain name is a co.uk you do not have to declare anything other than your name. You do not have to declare your address. So don’t!
Note. The law in the UK is that anyone who sells online has to abide by the Distance Selling Regulations. If you have a site I would recommend you read this just so you are aware. If you sell by auction only you don’t need to be concerned about this as auctions are exempt.
Some buyers (not on Panty Hog thank goodness) are insisting on their rights regarding this legislation and are bullying girls to disclose their home address. If a buyer does this, then sever all contact. Do not sell to them. Decent buyers realise that we are concerned for our safety and privacy and wouldn’t dream of bullying us. Being Panty Trust verified should be sufficient guarantee for them to show then we are genuine and have taken every opportunity to allay their concerns. If not, then they are clearly not very understanding about our concerns and not desirable as a buyer.
If it’s a choice between getting an email from Trading Standards or a visit from a strange man on my doorstep wanting my knickers I think I’d prefer Trading Standards anyday.

Yes, you can. Easily. So… has no-one wondered exactly how was the OP planning on cashing this supposed cheque having ensured that it was going to have a fake name on it…?
It may be that the OP expected her initial and surname to be used which would be okay but the ‘buyer’ put ‘Lucy Whatever’…rather that ‘L Whatever’.

That was a really very silly thing to do.
And you realise it, which is good…and I hope you’ll do as you say and never be so stupid again. You may want to be really careful with your site.
My partner took literally 5 seconds to find your full name and address.
You PO box will also be traceable. If you are with Royal mail they are allowed to divulge your personal details to anyone that asksKez is right, I too found your full name and address too. You didn’t have to declare your address because you are a co.uk.
I don’t know if you can take your address off now though 🙁

MemberI’ve moved this to Help and Advice for New Sellers. Better suited here I think to warn new sellers why giving out your home address is never, ever a good idea.
Anna
MemberExactly, it’s a piggin’ fortune, specially when I want to get heroes and Desperate Housewives and the rest of Scrubs

MemberI was a huge Lost fan until cable stopped showing it and it was only available on Sky.
I was gutted and very annoyed. The only way I can watch it now is to buy the DVDs.Â

MemberAlways be courteous to other sellers. Unlike most businesses other sellers are happy to help you. Do not put other sellers down in an attempt to market yourself as a ‘better’ seller. It just makes you look cheap and desperate. It will also mean that you won’t get any help.
Do not assume that you will get help. It is not your right to demand help. Say ‘please’, say ‘thank you’ and you will be overwhelmed with help from a very friendly community. Put into the community what you get out. I’m sick and tired of sellers who benefit from the experiences of established sellers, but never contribute anything back to the community.
Do not rest on your laurels. You may have worked hard to market yourself, you may have worked hard in building up a profile as a good seller but that does not mean that you can abuse your buyers later. Don’t keep your buyers waiting for their orders without good communication. If you have a problem email them, explain, and offer them a refund. They will often be prepared to wait. Do NOT avoid their emails. You owe them.
Anna
MemberPart of what he says is correct. Distance selling regulations mean that we are supposed to state our full postal address on our sites.
As for the rest of what the kucking fobhead says – well, that’s exactly why we don’t!
So we’re all fake are we? lmao
