Hey everyone,
It’s been my first attempt at making an html order form and I followed all the instructions very carefully, but I’m not sure if it’s working. I haven’t gotten any orders yet (but it could just be a slow time for me) and I want to make sure my form is working.
If anyone gets a chance and wouldn’t mind, could you please fill out a pretend order and submit it to me? Just type whatever into the fields and hit send. I’d greatly appreciate it!Kacie

:crazy2:
August 30, 2007 at 10:44 pm #17060tastykacieMemberGrrrr. I knew it!
I haven’t gotten anything that even resembles an order form. Had something with an .att extension that wouldn’t open.I programed the submit button function to be mailto:tastykacie@yahoo.com
Is there a step I missed? Or can someone refer me to an html for really super dummies because apparently I don’t get it.
August 31, 2007 at 1:46 am #17064AnonymousGuestHTML order forms can be tricky for the less experienced web chic. Do you have an HTML book? HTML for dummies was my bible for a while 🙂
August 31, 2007 at 1:47 am #17065anniMemberI was using and plan to continue using formlogix. You can create a form on their website and paste the html to your webpage. The rest is taken care of.
just a suggestion. Hope you get it to work, sweets.
August 31, 2007 at 3:32 am #17068gemma_ypgMemberI see where you’re going with this form, but it’s often easier to have the form just send the email straight to you, instead of using a ‘mailto’ function that opens the customer’s mail program.
To do that you use a php script like this:
http://www.ibdhost.com/contact/
…and modify to what you want.
Give me a yell if you have any problems with it. 🙂

September 4, 2007 at 11:42 pm #17131tastykacieMemberThank you everyone for the links and for trying my form.
I completely took it off my site until I have some serious time to sit down and learn.
For those of you that have forms on your site, do they increase the amount of spam you get? Ever since I put mine up, I’ve gotten more than double what I usually had.
Also, for the free form builder sites, how secure are those for the customers? Would them inputting their email cause them to get tons of spam? I’m seriously debating going the form builder route, but I don’t want it to be a bust too!
Thanks.September 5, 2007 at 1:19 am #17134gemma_ypgMemberI’ve never used a form builder but the reason you’re getting tons of spam now is because spam bots go through the code of a website looking for ‘mailto’ and harvesting the email address attached to it.
They’ve collected your email address from the code in your form, and odds are you’ll still get a lot of spam even after removing the form. 🙁
Php forms don’t have your email address visible in them, so the spam bots can’t find it. Of course, they get everywhere your email address is online anyway.
“Curse you spam bots!!” *shakes fist*

September 5, 2007 at 1:30 am #17136AnonymousGuestThere are also these neat code thingies that take your email address and convert it into a series of characters..you insert the character string in place of your email address, and the spam thingies can’t read it!Â
They’re mostly free too :)Â
Just google something like “email coder” or similar and you’ll find all sorts of them.
September 6, 2007 at 12:08 am #17156tastykacieMemberOk, I guess spam is just par for the course and I’ve been lucky up till now.
I’ll look into that email coder too, thanks!
September 7, 2007 at 12:05 am #17166AnonymousGuestAlso, your webhost should have a junk filter…make sure it is turned on – but monitor it from time to time to be sure it isnt filtering out something you need :)Â
THat should put a major dent in your spam volume as well!
